Will and Susan Harbaugh of Red Bud celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary recently with an open house.

Members of the wedding party were Nancy Jans, Kimberly Moll, Michael Harbaugh, Elizabeth Harbaugh, Susan Aubuchon, Dwight Kern, Christopher Harbaugh, Grant Aubuchon, Caroline Donjon, Larry Gielow, Charles Harbaugh, Nicholas Harbaugh, Cathy Nevois, and Shawn Liefer.

A dinner and dance reception at the American Legion in Waterloo followed the ceremony.

Will is employed as a driver with Wm. F. Braun Milk Hauling in Hecker.  Susan is employed as the chief financial officer with Human Support Services in Waterloo.

Susan is the past president of the Kaskaskia Valley Audubon Society and the current treasurer for the Red Bud School District and Perandoe Special Education District. She recently completed the Master Naturalist program with the University of Illinois Extension and is a member of the Monroe County Herb Club.  The Harbaughs also belong to or support a number of nature and animal-related charities.

The Harbaughs are volunteer weather spotters for the National Weather Service. They enjoy photography, traveling and hiking. Will takes most of the photos and Susan crafts them into digital scrapbooks. They take pleasure in traveling the National Parks system, and so far have visited 40 of the 58. In addition, Will enjoys golf, and both savor dry wine and sharp cheese.

For a special 25th anniversary trip, Will and Susan traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, where they saw a variety of animals unique to the island, including the famous old tortoise, Lonesome George, just before his death.
