WHS soccer alum dominating at UMSL

Former Waterloo High School soccer standout Jon Huelsman is lighting up the field at UMSL as a member of the school’s 6-6 soccer team. The sophomore midfielder was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after dominating weekend play, scoring three of the four total goals the Tritons notched in two tough games.

While a student at WHS, Huelsman earned all-state honors as a senior after setting a school record with 35 goals. He was a member of the team that placed third in state his junior year, finishing with a 24-2-3 record, and as a senior the ‘Dogs squad went 22-3-1 with conference, and regional championships.

Huelsman played one year at Southwestern Illinois College before transferring to UMSL.

He is the son of Robert and Carol Huelsman of Waterloo.
