This week’s Republic-Times Team of the Week is the Waterloo High School girls basketball team coached by Matt Lucash. Playing without seniors Mia Reed and Kaitlyn Storm, who recently suffered season-ending injuries, the Bulldogs won two games in the Class 3A Mascoutah Regional this week to advance to Friday’s championship game against host team Mascoutah (weather permitting).

Waterloo nipped Cahokia on Tuesday, 45-42, and then downed rival Columbia in double overtime, 57-50.

Taylor Augustine and Kathryn Finnerty have provided the scoring punch in regional play, with Jennifer Probst, Courtney Kaufmann, Alyssa Busche and others also playing important roles.
