Waterloo boys tennis squeaks past Gibault

Wednesday the Waterloo High School boys tennis team hosted Gibault in the two team’s annual rivalry match-up at the WHS tennis courts. This rivalry brought together a few of the area’s top tennis players with the Bulldogs No. 1 player, Damon Lange taking on Gibault’s No. 1 player and last year’s state qualifying ace.

Despite Lesko defeating Lange in two sets, 6-0, 6-1, WHS pulled off the, 5-4, team win over the Hawks.

The results are as follows:

Singles

1. Michael Lesko (Gib) defeated Damon Lange: 6-0, 6-1
2. Clayton Bourgeois (Wat) defeated Johnny Lebert: 6-4, 6-3
3. Caleb Weiler (Gib) defeated Chris Cook: 6-3, 6-4
4. Dustin Schrieber (Wat) defeated Evan Wessel: 6-0, 6-0
5. Grant Rodenberg (Wat) defeated Jacob Weiler: 6-0, 6-2
6. Evan Arenas (Wat) defeated Connor Meehan: 6-0, 6-0

Doubles
1. Lesko and Lebert (Gib) defeated Lange and Bourgeois: 6-0, 4-6, 11-9
2, C. Weiler and J. Weiler (Gib) defeated Cook and Schrieber: 7-5, 3-6, 10-8
3. Ryan Burrow and Tyler Weber (Wat) defeated Meehan and Wessel: 6-2, 6-2
