Wanda L. Geist | Obituary

Wanda L. Geist, nee Brooks, 86, of Waterloo and formerly of Cahokia, died Nov. 27, 2014 in Columbia.

She was born Sept. 10, 1928 in Redford, Mo.

Mrs. Geist was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Cahokia. She also was the Sunday school secretary for many years. She loved baking and cooking and in her younger days loved to play softball and golfing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. “Buster” Geist; a brother, Jimmy Brooks; and three sisters, Shirley Gossett, Dorothy Gastineau, and Sharon Rauls.

Surviving are her children, Judy (Ray) Goleaner of Cahokia, Jan (Clancey) Duttlinger of St. Charles, Mo., and Terry (Debbie) Geist of Columbia; a sister, Freda (Lloyd) King of Ellington, Mo.; six grandchildren, Dawn (Terry) Garris, Kenny Goleaner, T.J. (Amy) Geist, Brad Duttlinger, Brett (Rachel) Geist, and Brooke Duttlinger; and six great-grandchildren, Colby, Dalayna, Jaylyn, Adley, Leighton and Ellie. She was a dear aunt, cousin and friend.

Visitation took place Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia.

A funeral service took place Dec. 1 at the funeral home.

Interment followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials may be made to Life Network of Southern Illinois in Waterloo or South County Pregnancy Health Center in St. Louis.
