Walter named new WHS hoops coach

Dane Walter was hired as the new Waterloo High School boys basketball coach during Monday’s meeting of the Waterloo School Board.

Walter, who is about to turn 26, will teach driver’s education at WHS this fall. He previously coached at Morrisonville, a Class 2A program that competes in the MSM Conference.

Morrisonville (19-11) won its first regional title since 1979 this past winter under Walter, riding a 10-game winning streak into sectionals before falling to a good Okawville squad.

He replaces CJ Cruser, who compiled a 62-51 record in four seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs, including a Mississippi Valley Conference championship in the 2013-14 season…
