Walter L. Reuter | Obituary
Walter L. Reuter, 86, of Hecker, died June 9, 2016, in Waterloo.
He was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Plum Hill Township, son of the late Walter Herman and Tillie Marie Reuter (nee Klingenburg).
He was married to Ruth Reuter (nee McCune); she preceded him in death.
Walter was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and Hecker Sportsmans Club. He was a retired auto worker, U.S. Navy veteran and avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, music, gardening and playing the accordion, guitar and harmonica.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also loved to travel and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his children Dennis (Sherry) Reuter, Kathy (Ronald) Wilson, and Paul Reuter; grandchildren Bethany (Jason) Wallace, Joshua (Chrissy) Wilson, Caleb Wilson, and Mackenzie Reuter; great-grandchildren Taylor Wilson, Chase Wilson, Grace Wallace, Griffin Wallace, and Keaton Wallace; sister Ida Belle Kroener; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two half brothers and two half sisters.
Visitation is June 12, from 5 to 8 p.m.; and June 13, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.
Funeral services will be June 13, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, Pastor Ivan Horn officiating.
Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery, Rice.
As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
