Voegele is preseason All-American

Dominic Voegele

Dominic Voegele, a sophomore pitcher at the University of Kansas, has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American by Perfect Game, it was announced last week.

Voegele, a 2023 graduate of Columbia High School, is the first Jayhawks baseball player to receive a Preseason All-American nod from Perfect Game.

Voegele enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign for the Jayhawks in 2024, going 7-2 with a 3.89 ERA in 81 innings pitched. He recorded eight quality starts and 80 strikeouts compared to 29 walks.

A two-time all-state baseball player while at CHS, Voegele received several accolades in his first season at Kansas that included freshman All-American by four different outlets, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 Second Team, a Big 12 All-Freshman Team honoree and a spot on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

The righthander finished the regular season tied for third in the Big 12 in wins (seven), tied for fifth in ERA (3.32), seventh in opponent batting average (.228) and tied for seventh in innings pitched (76). His seven wins were the most by a KU freshman pitcher since 1993 and the second most in the country among Power Five freshmen.

Drafted in the 20th round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Dominic is the son of Matthew and Kiley Voegele. He has two younger brothers, Mason and Xavier.
