Voegele dom-inating at Kansas

Columbia native Dominic Voegele is pitching well in his freshman season at the University of Kansas.

Columbia High School graduate Dominic Voegele continues to impress in his freshman season on the baseball squad at the University of Kansas.

The 6-foot-2 righthander has made eight starts for the Jayhawks, posting a 3-2 record and 2.25 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched.

His ERA is among the lowest of all freshman starting pitchers in NCAA Division I baseball.

Kansas, which competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I athletics, is 15-14 on the season.

Voegele opted to attend Kansas after he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 20th round of the Major League Baseball Draft last July.

He was the 595th overall pick and the final selection in 2023 for the Diamondbacks.

Last year’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro Baseball Player of the Year, Voegele was selected to the 2023 Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State Team.
