The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Valmeyer High School volleyball player Violet Krekel. A senior, Krekel recently surpassed 1,000 career assists and 500 career points with the program. Krekel is closing in on sixth place all-time in career assists for the Pirates. Her older sister Jayna Krekel is third all-time in that category with 1,626 career assists.
