Verna B. Knott | Obituary
Verna B. Knott, 93, of Chester, died Jan. 29, 2016, at Chester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chester.
She was born July 1, 1922, in Steeleville, daughter of the late Louis and Ella Brase (nee Goetting).
She married Vernon Thomas Knott on Oct. 11, 1943, in Bennettsville, S.C.; he preceded her in death on July 22, 1986.
Verna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and American Legion Auxiliary in Chester, she was an AFSCME retiree.
She was retired from working as a food supervisor at Menard Correctional Center.
Survivors include her two children, Gary Knott of Patton, Mo., and Sharon Vogt of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Mike (Pam) Knott of Perryville, Mo., Crystal (Mike) Duensing of Chester, Josh Knott (special friend Ashley Webb) of Patton, Mo., Lisa Vogt-Baczynski (Matthew) of Columbia, Jason Knott (fiancée Diane Rathert) of Chester, James (Jennifer) Knott of Ellis Grove, and Jared (Tina) Knott of St. Louis; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey Cowen and Jimmy Thielemann, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dale Knott, son-in-law Bernard Vogt, grandson Eric Vogt, sister Norma Uchtman and brother-in-law Norris Uchtman.
Visitation and funeral services were Feb. 1-2, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Rev. Tim Landskroener officiating.
Interment followed at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
