Vera F. Stumpf

Vera F. Stumpf nee Lang, 82, of Waterloo, died June 21, 2015, in Waterloo.

She was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Millstadt, daughter of the late Henry G. and Edna Lang (nee Luetzelschwab).

Vera was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo; the Monroe County Fair Association, of which she was a past board member; former Girl Scout leader; an election judge for more than 50 years; and a charter member of the Deer Hill Cemetery Association.

She is survived by her husband, Louis E. Stumpf; children Marlene (Richard) Guillermo and Kathy (Rodney) Linker;  grandchildren Dawn (Michael) Kress, Robin (Brandon) Stewart, Amanda (Michael) Esposito, Melissa (Eric) Lonn, and Matthew (Sarah) Linker; great grandchildren William and Madeline Kress and Isaac Linker; brother and sister Lavern (Lucille) Lang and Myrt (Clarence) Metter; and sisters-in-law Lucille Schewe and Delores Lang; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Lang and brother-in-law Raymond Schewe.

Visitation will be June 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home, and June 26, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo.

The funeral will be June 26, at 10 a.m., at the church, Pastor James Watson officiating.

Interment will follow at Deer Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to  Hospice of Southern Illinois, Deer Hill Cemetery Association, or St. Paul United Church of Christ Martha’s Kitchen.

Andrea is a graduate of Gibault High School and the University of Missouri School of Journalism, the University of Missouri Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville College of Education. She lives in Columbia with her husband and their twin toddler sons.
