Fatal crash on Bluff Road in Columbia

A 64-year-old Columbia man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Bluff Road at Valmeyer Road in Columbia.

The Columbia Fire Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash along with emergency medical personnel and the county’s deputy coroner.

The driver, Steve Harres, was pronounced dead at the scene. His sports utility vehicle went off the roadway and traveled down an embankment, landing upside down in a field.

Funeral arrangements for Harres are pending. Check back for more details as they are available.
