Police, fire and EMS personnel responded shortly after 11 a.m. Monday to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Admiral Parkway (Route 3) and Bottom Avenue in front of Sonic in Columbia.

A 2006 Jeep Commander driven by Sabra Wilson, 51, of Waterloo, was traveling northbound on Route 3 at Bottom and drove through a red light while following a fire truck, police said, resulting in a collision with a 2015 Chevrolet Captiva driven by Pierre Young, 50, of Belleville, who was crossing over Route 3 from Admiral Weinel to Bottom.

Following the collision, Wilson’s vehicle took out an Illinois Department signal controller cabinet.

Young was transported by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Wilson was cited for disobeying a traffic signal.
