The Valmeyer Junior High School boys basketball team is this week’s Republic-Times Team of the Week. Valmeyer defeated Prairie du Rocher on Jan. 27 and Red Bud Lutheran on Jan. 30 to win its own regional and advance to the SIJHSAA Class S state tourney to be played this weekend.

The Junior Pirates will play Summersville at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Rend Lake College in the first game of the state tourney.
