Daytime Discoveries in Valmeyer became the first local daycare facility to host intruder training for safety purposes.

The training was conducted last week by Tier One Tactical Solutions with assistance from the Valmeyer Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Corey Zavorka from Tier One and the St. Louis County Police Department Special Unit took daycare staff through a Powerpoint presentation on escape methods, barricade methods and how to protect the children to the very best of their ability.

This presentation was followed by a hands-on simulation to better prepare Daytime Discoveries staff for possible situations they could find themselves in during an attack.

Local schools such as Columbia and Waterloo have previously received training from Zavorka and his team, but Daytime Discoveries is the first daycare in the county to complete the training.
