Twila C. Hoffmann | Obituary

Twila Clara Hoffmann, nee Scheibe, 90, of Waterloo, died Aug. 31, 2024, in St. Louis. She was born July 24, 1934, in Harrisonville.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ – Maeystown; Sunday School Teacher for 30-plus years; Church Council secretary; YPL sponsor; Women’s Fellowship for 65-plus years; Maher Trust Trustee; Morrison-Talbott Library Board (officer); and retired from State Bank of Waterloo after many years.

She is survived by her children Barry (Cathy) Hoffmann and Sharon (John) Glessner; grandchildren Andrew (Andrea) Glessner and Abby (Kyle) Buettner; great-grandchildren Colton and Caleb Glessner and Silas and Max Buettner; sisters-in-law Janice Nagel; Patsy Hoffmann, and Karlene Scheibe; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Twila is preceded in death by her husband Cletus L. Hoffmann; parents Walter G. and Hilda B. (nee Offermann) Scheibe; brother Robert Scheibe; sister-in-law Marilyn (Glenn) Luhr; brother-in-law Alvis Hoffmann; and brother-in-law Carl Nagel.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sept. 2 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo and 9-9:45 a.m. Sept. 3 at St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Sept. 3 at St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown, Pastor Patrick Poole officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Maeystown.
