The Waterloo Fire Department responded shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday to the report of a lawnmower on fire at 3060 Cedar Ridge Lane near New Hanover. The burning lawnmower was near two propane tanks and a camper, according to emergency radio dispatch.

The fire was mostly extinguished using a garden hose prior to firefighter arrival. The cause of the fire was a stray ember from burn barrel on the property that caught the lawnmower on fire.
