Thursday evening injury crash in Columbia

Emergency personnel responded about 6:45 p.m. Thursday to a two-vehicle crash on Route 3 at Eagle Drive near Columbia Middle School.

Responding agencies were the Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department and Columbia EMS.

Police said a black 2016 Ford SUV was traveling from Valmeyer Road to CMS on Eagle Drive when it was struck by tan 2013 Dodge van.

The Ford was driven by Mindy McFarland, 39, of Columbia. The Dodge was driven by Richard Hinojosa, 67, of Granite City.

Police said Hinojosa ran the red light on Route 3 northbound at Eagle Drive and was cited for disobeying a traffic signal. He was transported to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County for treatment of minor injuries.
