Sylvester and Leona Biffar recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

The former Leona Weber married Sylvester Biffar April 18, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Church in Madonnaville, Rev. Vincent Meskenas officiating.

Leona is the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Weber of Maeystown. Sylvester is the son of the late George and Martha Biffar of near Waterloo.

The couple have six children: Jane (Dennis) Asselmeier, Judy (Rick) Heck, Alan (Rita) Biffar, Leon (Lisa) Biffar, John (Anne) Biffar, and Rita Polk (Craig Shields), as well as one child, Joseph, who died at birth.

They also have 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

They celebrated with a dinner with the family at Acorns Golf Course.
