Susan Higgins

Susan Higgins, 60, of Moline, died April 28, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Waterloo, the daughter of Edward and Joyce Horn Nobbe.

She married Steve Higgins on May 15, 1982, in Waterloo.

Susan held a master’s degree in early childhood education and worked as a kindergarten teacher for Rock Island Center for Math and Science. She was a wonderful teacher — teaching was her passion and she took great delight in watching her students succeed.

Susan was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking Christmas cookies, and interior decorating. More than anything, Susan loved traveling with her family on vacations, and planned annual extensive explorations.

Survivors include her loving husband, Steve Higgins; daughters, Ashley Higgins, East Moline; Lindsay Higgins, Iowa City, Iowa; Kylie Higgins, Rock Island; and Taylor Higgins, Chicago; brother, Tom (Jane) Nobbe, Waterloo; sister Pam (Randy) Veath, Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation is May 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.

Funeral services will be May 3, at 10 a.m., at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline.

Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.
