The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School boys basketball standout Sam Donald. The 6-foot-8 junior scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Friday’s championship game of the Columbia-Freeburg Holiday Tournament at CHS, which the Eagles won over Marquette. Donald, who was named tourney MVP, notched his 1,000th career point in the win. For the season, Donald is averaging 20.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game to lead the Eagles.
