The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo High School golfer Ryan Stites, who medaled in each of his team’s first three events to start the season.

Stites shot a two-over-par 74 to place third as an individual out of 106 golfers at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course during the Alton Tee-Off Tournament on Aug. 16.

On Aug. 20, Stites shot a 79 to place 10th overall out of 91 golfers at Westview Golf Course in Quincy.

Most recently, Stites was the low medalist in an Aug. 25 road match against conference rival Jerseyville, shooting a 37.
