Russell R. Boehne | Obituary

Russell Raymond Boehne, 81, of Collinsville, died Aug. 13, 2014, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville.

He was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Columbia, son of the late Oswald and Edna (nee Schneider) Boehne.

Boehne was a United States Navy veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. After his service, he was a retired union carpenter who enjoyed his craft.

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collins- ville and was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (nee Zipfel) Boehne, whom he married on Nov. 25, 1965; daughters Lynette (Herb) Phillips and Jeannine (Mike Kraft) Boehne, both of Belleville; son Doug Boehne of Collinsville; grandchildren Victoria Phillips, Jordan Phillips and Joshua Phillips; sisters Ardelle Hodgson of Center- ville, Ohio, and Jenny (Raymond) Jung of Waterloo; brothers-in- law Marion “Bud” (Jackie) Zipfel of Belleville, Marvin Zipfel of Cabot, Ark., and Carl Nobbe of Waterloo, plus nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Laverne Kohlmeier and Carol Nobbe; brothers-in-law Frank Hodgson, Fremond Kohlmeier and Melvin (Joanie) Zipfel, and sister-in-law Marie Zipfel.

Visitation took place Aug. 17 at Herr Funeral Home in Collins- ville.

Funeral services took place Aug. 18 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Rev. Fred Kraemer officiating.

Burial with full military honors took place Aug. 19 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
