Crash with injury near Valmeyer

A single-car crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. Saturday on Route 156 near Brian Lane outside of Valmeyer. The female driver of a lavender 2009 Nissan was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway to the right and struck a tree head-on, police said.

The woman was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment of serious injuries. Charges of DUI and driving too fast for conditions are pending, per Illinois State Police.

The Waterloo Fire Department, Monroe County EMS and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash, assisting Illinois State Police.
