Robert William Speichinger | Obituary
Robert William Speichinger, 87, of Millstadt, died Oct. 10, 2014 in Waterloo.
He was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Millstadt, son of the late Mathias and Cecelia Speichinger, nee Jacobi.
Robert was a meat packer for Hunter Packing Company and employed at Foster Frobes, a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War, a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, VFW Post 7980 in Millstadt and the Knights of Columbus.
He married Ruth Kreher on Nov. 20, 1952 in Paderborn; she survives him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Cecelia, nee Jacobi, Speichinger; son-in-law, Wayne Lanter; two brothers, Roy Speichinger and William Speichinger; his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Mathilda, nee Maurer, Kreher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Cecilia Schaefer, John L. Mueth, Fred and Ethel Voegele, Edmund Eckart and Bert Kreher.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his children, Patty (Al) Schilling of Belleville, Karen (Dale) Vasquez of Lenzburg, and Mel (Julie) Speichinger of Millstadt; his sisters, Arlene (Anthony) Neff of Waterloo and Marilyn (Orville) Haudrich of Millstadt; his brother, Leo (Alice) Speichinger of Fairview Heights; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Mueth of Millstadt, Clyde (Anna Mae) Kreher, Esther Eckart, Ethel Mae Kreher, all of Hecker, Joe (Evelyn) Kreher of Freeburg, and Vic (Stella) Mueth of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Speichinger, Andrew Vasquez and Kellie Speichinger; his step-grandchildren, Kirk (Jennifer) Schilling and Kory (Tara) Schilling; his step-great-grandchildren, Rebecca Williams, Payton Schilling and Preston Schilling, nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Oak Hill Nursing Home Alzheimer’s Unit for the excellent care Robert received.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 and 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Oct. 13 at Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt.
A prayer service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday.
A Mass will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt.
Interment will follow in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt with military honors accorded at the graveside.
