Retail theft at Rural King

Two people were arrested following a felony retail theft that occurred Thursday evening in Waterloo.

Waterloo police said that shortly before 5:20 p.m., a chainsaw and other power tools were taken from Rural King, 740 N. Market Street.

An Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network alert was issued after the suspect vehicle, a black Chevy Silverado, had fled the Rural King parking lot prior to police arrival.

The vehicle was eventually stopped by Sparta police and the suspects were taken into custody.

The suspects, Stephan P. Makowan, 44, of Christopher, and Linda N. Fulford, 47, of Buckner, were both charged Friday in Monroe County Circuit Court with felony retail theft.
