Police are investigating a residential burglary that was reported Monday evening in the 400 block of Burroughs Court in Columbia.

The female homeowner contacted police shortly after 6:30 p.m. to report that a garage door was open at her residence upon arrival and her home was ransacked inside.

An Illinois State Police crime scene unit has been requested to assist in the investigation.

Police are also looking at security camera footage captured by neighboring homes.
