The Waterloo School District once again showed that the Jump Rope for Heart fundraising program is one of its favorite events of the year.
In all, the district raised $61,600 for the American Heart Association. Rogers Elementary raised $21,112.28, and Gardner Elementary added $17,993.14 to the total.
The top fundraiser in the district was Donnie Feick, who brought in a staggering $4,785.
The theme of a special assembly to announce the total took place Thursday with a “Speed Racer” theme. Students from Rogers and Gardner who raised $100 or more raced the length of the gym floor on large tricycles.
