Public meeting Oct. 12 on proposed new I-255 interchange
A public meeting is set for Wednesday evening, Oct. 12, to gather input on a proposed new Interstate 255 interchange near Imbs Station Road in Dupo.
The meeting will take place inside the Dupo High School cafeteria from 5 to 8 p.m.
The village of Dupo is hosting an open house and environmental assessment availability meeting as part of the engineering and environmental study portion of this project.
Handouts and display boards will be available for public review, as will information regarding engineering, environmental, and other issues relating to the study of this new interchange.
Consultants performing the engineering and environmental studies (Burns & McDonnell, Kuhlmann Design Group), and representatives from the village will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to provide comment, input and feedback on the study.
The Federal Highway Administration granted concept approval for this new interchange in 2006, with $17.5 million awarded to the project through a federal transportation bill. The estimated cost to build this interchange is now $28 million.
According to the Burns & McDonnell website, the interchange would be a single-point interurban configuration at Imbs Station Road with a system of connecting roads to serve an emerging 2,000-acre industrial zone along Davis Street Ferry Road.
Preliminary plans and profiles are being developed for the interchange and its connecting roads, including a planned bridge on Davis Street Ferry Road over the Union Pacific Railroad.
