The Waterloo Fire Department assisted City of Waterloo utilities personnel in responding shortly after 9:45 a.m. Sunday to the smell of gas and with a possible gas leak at an apartment in the 200 block of North Market Street.

All occupants safely evacuated from the building.

The fire department was released from the scene by city utilities by 10:10 a.m., but returned later in the day to re-evaluate the situation.
