Police catch suspects in Walmart theft

Local police agencies were searching for a man and woman in a white Chrysler van following a theft that occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday at the Waterloo Walmart.

The male suspect was wearing a black coat, and the female suspect was wearing a pink camouflage coat, according to police radio dispatch. They left the store and were last seen traveling north on Route 3. The license plate on the van returned to a resident of Red Bud.

Columbia police stopped the van a short time later on Route 3 near Veterans Parkway and the female admitted to stealing items from the store. No names have been released at this time.
