Columbia Police
July 10
Diana C. Casey, 38, of Dupo, was charged with driving while licensed revoked (fourth offense).
July 18
Matthew J. Case, 42, of Coulterville, was charged with aggravated DUI (fifth offense) and driving while license revoked (second offense) in connection with a June 28 incident on North Main Street.
July 22
Police assisted Columbia fire and EMS personnel in responding at 9 a.m. to a crash at the intersection of Route 3 and North Main Street/Sand Bank Road in Columbia. Fortunately, none of those involved required medical transport from the scene.
Illinois State Police
July 17
Emergency personnel responded shortly before 8:20 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Route 158 near Limestone Lane between Columbia and Millstadt. A 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Casey Kolmer of Waterloo was traveling east on Route 158 and went into the westbound lane to pass a vehicle in front of him, colliding with the tire of a westbound 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Kolmer, who was cited for improper passing, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was not injured.
Millstadt Police
June 27
Shortly before 9 p.m., Aaron W. Scharf, 46, of Millstadt, was arrested for DUI and improper turn signal at Wheat Ridge Lane and Woodfield Drive.
June 28
A burglary to an unoccupied residence undergoing rehab in the 200 block of East Mill Street sometime between June 21-28 is under investigation. Stolen were an industrial fan and scrap metal.
July 13
Shortly after 6 p.m., police took a report of a retail theft at Dollar General, 601 W. Washington Street. An unknown black male reportedly stole laundry detergent pods, diapers and other items before fleeing from the scene.
July 18
Nichole S. Poole, 43, of Red Bud, was charged with battery in connection with a June 8 incident during the firemen’s picnic at Liederkranz Park in which a female was battered by another female she did not know.
July 22
Shortly before 6:15 p.m., Richard H. Evans, 40, of Millstadt, was cited for disorderly conduct following an incident that occurred during a neighborhood disturbance involving multiple individuals on West Harrison Street.
July 23
At 8:20 a.m., Nathan M. Freeman, 35, of Millstadt, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for driving while license suspended and also charged with driving while license suspended at West Laurel Street and Monroe Street. During the incident, Freeman allegedly resisted arrest, and he was subsequently charged with resisting a peace officer.
Valmeyer Police
July 17
Amy E. Kitchell, 42, of Waterloo, was arrested for DUI on East Main Street at Quarry Road. Kitchell was also cited for improper lane usage.
Monroe County Sheriff
July 11
Sharmill T. Davis, 38, of Cahokia, was charged with felony driving while license revoked (MDDP eligible) on Route 159 at Roscow Road in Red Bud.
July 15
Tammy L. Colonius, 56, of Dupo, was arrested on a Monroe County warrant for failure to appear (disorderly conduct, resisting arrest) at Red Roof Liquor & Lottery, 301 Southport Drive, Columbia.
Brian J. Zapf, 60, of Columbia, was arrested for domestic battery in the 9300 block of Christopher Lake Drive, Columbia.
July 18
Jordan D. Swan, 38, of Fairview Heights, was charged with felony failure to return from furlow. Court records indicate Swan failed to report to the Monroe County Jail on the weekends of June 7, June 21 and July 5 as part of a sentence due to a DUI conviction.
July 19
Deputies assisted the Waterloo Fire Department in responding about 10:05 a.m. to a fire in the ceiling of a pump house in the 600 block of Goeddeltown Road. Upon the arrival on scene of a deputy, the fire was seen smoldering in the ceiling area of the pump house. Damage was believed to be minimal.
A single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 9:20 p.m. on Kopp Road near Martini Road. A 2019 Jeep Compass driven by Justin M. Kent, 39, of Waterloo, was traveling south on Kopp Road when a deer entered the roadway. The Jeep veered off the road to the right, coming to rest in the brush. Kent declined medical transport from the scene.
July 20
Dawn R. Chapman, 37, of Waterloo, was arrested for domestic battery in the 6000 block of Old Red Bud Road for allegedly punching a male victim in the face with a closed fist.
Waterloo Police
July 20
An arrest was made in connection with an alleged stabbing that occurred shortly before 8:20 p.m. in the 400 block of South Church Street. Robert Lee Harris, 58, of Cahokia, allegedly used a knife that lacerated the right hand of a male victim following a disturbance. Harris then tried to evade an arrest attempt by a Waterloo police officer. Harris was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest. Police said the victim was not seriously injured in the stabbing.
July 21
Multiple law enforcement agencies participated in the pursuit of a suspect in connection with a domestic incident at an apartment in the 600 block of South Church Street shortly before 12:45 p.m. The suspect vehicle, a red sedan, was followed by Waterloo, Columbia and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department police units north on Route 3 and then east on Route 158 into Millstadt. The vehicle was ultimately stopped at Lee’s Home Center on South Illinois Street. Kyle D. Johnson, 19, of Waterloo, was charged with aggravated domestic battery (strangle), unlawful restraint, aggravated fleeing/eluding police, and aggravated battery of a police officer. Johnson is alleged to have strangled a female victim, that being his girlfriend. He then detained the girlfriend and another woman in that while being asked to leave, he “held a steak knife and refused to permit” them to seek police assistance. The resulting police pursuit involved speeds of 21-plus miles per hour over the speed limit. Johnson is also alleged to have “spit on the arm” of a Columbia police officer in the incident.
