Columbia Police

July 2

Jennifer A. McWhorter, 42, of High Ridge, Mo., was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant in the 100 block of Wedgewood Drive. 

Monroe County Sheriff

June 28

Amanda M. Ellis, 28, of Granite City, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine and LSD), in connection with incidents on April 11 and April 12.

June 30

Christopher A. Loeftler, 37, of Holts Summit, Mo., was charged with armed violence (category II), a Class X felony, for being in possession of a weapon, a blade greater than three inches in length, while also being in possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance (fentanyl).

July 3

Deputies assisted the Hecker, Waterloo and Red Bud fire departments in responding shortly before 10:45 p.m. to a vehicle on fire inside a garage attached to a residence in the 6700 block of Konarcik Road near Orlet Road. All occupants of the residence safely evacuated the home. The vehicle was fully engulfed upon firefighter arrival. Hecker Fire Chief Kevin Biffar said the fire was contained to the garage. Biffar reported minor smoke damage to the house, though no injuries were sustained. He added that the homeowner said he’d heard a noise coming from the garage, only to discover the car on fire.

July 8

Deputies assisted the Hecker Fire Department in responding shortly after 6:20 p.m. to a pickup truck rollover crash on Route 156 near Edgewater Drive. The roadway was wet due to rain falling at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported in the incident, which resulted in a black truck coming to rest on its side just off the roadway near a cornfield.

Waterloo Police

July 2

Kurtiss A. Grahlherr, 42, of Waterloo, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a blackjack/knife and parking in a non-business district at 12:41 a.m. on Route 3 at Park Street.

July 3

The Waterloo fire and police departments and Monroe County EMS responded just after 4:15 p.m. for a report of a fire in a sterilization room at Smiles R Forever Dentistry, 226 Westview Plaza Drive. The building was evacuated and the fire was believed to be minor. Firefighters assisted with ventilation of the building. 

July 6

Allen L. Gervais, 62, of Harrisburg, was charged with retail theft of merchandise valued over $300 from Rural King, 740 N. Market Street.
