Phillip Garnto | Obituary

Phillip S. Garnto, 82, of Waterloo, died Aug. 20, 2024, in Waterloo. He was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Wrightsville, Ga.

Phillip retired from McDonnell Douglas and was the owner of Anchor Realty in Ferguson, Mo.

He is survived by wife Shirley K. Garnto (nee Renner); children Ryan (Debbie) Garnto, Debra Cary, Jennifer (Joseph) Jones, Jill (Gregory) Engel, and Michael (Margaret) Klein; grandchildren; brothers and sisters Danny Garnto, Derrell Garnto, Brylyn (Jimmy) Sumner, and Bonnie (Tim) Tanner; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents Horace and Mary Lou (nee Ivey) Garnto; mother of his children Theresa (Chee-Chee) Garnto; sister Jackie Brown; and daughter Theresa Klein.

A celebration of life and private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association or American Lung Association.
