Peggy S. Schutt | Obituary

Peggy Sue Schutt (nee Hoock), 62, of Waterloo, died Jan. 11, 2024, in Waterloo, at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born March 15, 1961, in East St. Louis.

Peggy graduated from Columbia High School in 1979 and three years later married her husband Allen Schutt on Aug. 20, 1982. 

She worked at Harrisonville Telephone Company for many years, retiring in 2020. Peggy enjoyed many things including Cardinal Baseball, shopping, country music concerts – especially George Strait – and traveling with frequent trips to Texas. Above all else, she loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Allen Schutt; children Meghan Schutt and Dakota Schutt; mother Shirley Hoock (nee Herrmann); siblings Kathy Hoock, Patty (Tim) Collins, Jimmy Hoock, Kristi (Jim) Gahl and Debbie (Frank) Lutz; mother-in-law Jean Schutt; siblings-in-law Cindy (Gordon) Gregson, Chris (Fred) Stumpf and Joel (Kristen) Schutt; nieces and nephews Zach Collins, Ryan (Hilary) Collins, Jessi Gahl, Hayden Lutz, Nathan (Taylor) Stumpf, Mitchell (Teryn) Gregson, Ty Schutt, Taylor (Nikki) Stumpf, Spencer Stumpf (Sigal) and Courtney (Aaron) Kuper; and special family Lori, Mickey, Cory (Deidra), Kyle (Danielle) Doerr family and Mike, Barb, Katie (Aaron) Esker, Jon (Dana), Nick (Mal) Kovarik family.

She is preceded in death by her father James Hoock; father-in-law Williard Schutt; brother-in-law David Schutt; nephew Eric Hoock; and special family Marian and Dean Keim.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Jan. 15 and 8-9:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 at Immaculate Conception Church in Columbia with Father Steve Thoma officiating.

Interment will be at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to: Gibault Catholic High School; Ss. Peter & Paul Grade School; or Immaculate Conception School.
