Pauline “Penny” Singleton | Obituary
Pauline “Penny” Singleton (nee Pinkley), 82, of Waterloo, died Jan. 2, 2016, in Waterloo.
She was born April 23, 1933, in Detroit, Mich.
Pauline was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
She was a Noble Grand of Tripp Rebekah Lodge 642, a Monroe County electoral judge and vice president of Waterloo Sportsman’s Ladies Auxiliary,
She worked as a nurse and certified respiratory therapy technician, completed a medical self-help training course and CPR graduate school in 1967. She was a graduate of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course of Illinois in 1983.
She was a member of the senior citizen club of Waterloo, was a Woodmen of the World judicial officer, and was a Lifedata Medical Service paramedical examiner.
She was a camp nurse for Woodmen Camp of West Frankfort, was a blood bank volunteer, was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.), and was a second and third grade teacher at Leal Elementary School, McAllen, Texas.
She is survived by her children Clifford Louis Singleton and Patricia Lee Burns; grandchildren Keith Christopher (Jill) Singleton, Amy Lynn Singleton, Natasha Marie Burns, Clinton Louis Singleton, and Natalie Louise Singleton; great-grandchildren; twin sister Lorine (Shelby) Lashley; and brother Howard (Mary) Pinkley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Lee Singleton; son Christopher Ward Singleton; and great-grandson Cameron Curran.
A memorial visitation is Feb. 27, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., at the funeal home, Pastor Merlyn Lawrence and Pastor Patrick Singleton officiating
Interment will follow at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.
