Patriotic Week at MCCS

Monroe County Christian School is hosting “Patriotic Week” through Sept. 13.

The teachers added lessons and activities centered around the Constitution, American symbols, important historical figures and events such as Patriot Day (Sept. 11).

Wednesday’s chapel will include a patriotic song, and students are asked to wear red, white and blue.

Older students will experience a special flag etiquette and folding presentation from Battlefield Flag Company on Sept. 12.

In preparation for the week, every class completed patriotic art for school displays.

“We need to return to teaching patriotism or love of country. As Americans, it is important to evaluate why patriotism is declining and respond with positive messages about our nation and its heritage to young students,” MCCS Principal Kim Wright said.

MCCS is located between Columbia and Waterloo and opened in 2018 to provide unwavering Christian values in a traditional learning environment.
