An ominous looking storm rolled through the Metro East early Thursday evening, but fortunately Monroe County escaped major damage.

Monroe County Emergency Management Agency Director Ryan Weber said that other than a few downed trees and power lines, there was not much damage to report locally.

As of Friday morning, there were 33 residents in rural Waterloo and 14 residents of Hecker without electricity, Ameren reported. The heat index was expected to top 100 degrees Friday afternoon.
