Nick Row | Athlete of the Week
Gibault High School boys basketball player Nick Row is this week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week.
The junior guard has stepped it up here in the later part of the season, performing especially well in Gibault’s postseason run. Row has scored 46 points and has had a total of 13 assists during the Hawks’ three postseason games so far.
His performance has made him the second highest scorer on the Gibault squad, with 291 points — 64 points behind the Hawks’ Matt Schreder. Row is averaging 9.4 points per game and carries the highest free throw shooting percentage (79.8 percent) on the team of those that have played more than ten games, as he has not missed a game yet this season.
The junior also leads the team in assists with 120 on the season so far, 42 more than Gibault’s second highest assist leader. He also ranks No. 1 on the team with 43 steals on the season.
Row has had to step it up since the loss of Gibault star guard/forward, fellow junior Wes Degener.
