Narcan save in Waterloo
The Waterloo Police Department and Monroe County EMS responded to an unresponsive drug overdose patient at a residence in the 300 block of West Fourth Street about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
WPD officers Cliff Haddick and Rob Fernandez responded and unsuccessfully administered Narcan to the woman. A second Narcan attempt by Monroe County EMS personnel was successful and the woman was revived.
Narcan is a form of naloxone for the emergency treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose. Narcan counteracts the life-threatening effects of opioid overdose.
Charges of obstructing justice are pending against another woman who was inside the home during the incident after she provided false information to police, the WPD said.
