The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Mitch Matecki of the Millstadt VFW team of the Mon-Clair League. In Millstadt’s round one playoff win over the St. Louis Printers on Saturday, Matecki hit two singles with an RBI, scored a run and stole a base. In the 3-2 semifinal win over the Belleville Rockies on Sunday, Matecki again hit two singles with an RBI, run scored and a steal. He hit .462 this summer for Millstadt.
