Melvin P. Parker | Obituary

Melvin E. Parker, 77, of Hecker, died Aug. 5, 2024, in Hecker. He was born April 24, 1947, in Red Bud.

He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church – Hecker.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Parker (nee Ogden); sister and brother Marian (Darrell) Hein and Kenny Parker; brother-in-law Joe Rieso; sister-in-law Rita Tyberendt; aunt Helen Parker; uncle Robert Mueller; nieces and nephews Chris (Norm) Sanders, Gerald (Laura) Miller, Matt (Kara) Miller, Janet (Mike) Schwartz, Jennifer (Lance) Schneider, John (Christine) Hein, Daryl (Cheryl) Smith, Russell Smith, Janet (Joe) Gregson, Tim (Elizabeth) Braun, Julie (Bakur) Ghartskaia, Jill (Mike) Witte, Mike (Kristi) Tyberendt and Chris (Susan) Tyberendt; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great nieces; great-great nephews; and cousins.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Elmer J. and Veronica J. (nee Klein) Parker; sisters Catherine (Jerry) Miller and Bonnie Rieso; sisters-in-law Judi Smith and Linda (Ed) Braun’ and brother-in-law James Tyberendt.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Aug. 9, 2024 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo and 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 10 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Hecker.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated following visitation at the church with Father Linus Umoren C.M. officiating.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: St. Augustine Church – Hecker; or Hecker Fire Department.
