Marilyn M. Kircher | Obituary

Marilyn M. Kircher, 82, of Columbia, passed away on Aug. 31, 2024, in Columbia. She was born Aug. 6, 1942, in Carbondale. She was married to the late Dennis Edward Kircher on June 17, 1967. He had passed away in 2019.

Marilyn was a home economics teacher at Cahokia High School in the early 1970s. After Marilyn and husband Dennis moved to Barrington, she began working for Trans America. They enjoyed their life in Barrington for over 25 years, but retired to Columbia to be closer to family. Marilyn was a dedicated Red Hat Lady and enjoyed playing bingo and bridge.

Surviving are her cousins Richard (Susan) Garrison, Rebecca (Fred) Madden and Carol (George) Born; sister-in-law Kathy (Jim) Siefert; brother-in-law Lynn Kircher; along with other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents Marvin Muckelroy and Dorothy Benner Muckelroy along with a brother, Loren “Benny” Muckelroy.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sept. 15 at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia. 

A memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of St. Louis.
