The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School bowler Maddie Brandenburger. She won the individual championship at the Mid-States High School Bowling Tournament held Dec. 27 in Peoria. Brandenburger knocked down 1,277 total pins for the six-game tournament, averaging just shy of 213 per game for the day and leading over the second place bowler by 39 pins.
