The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo Junior High School cross country runner Lydia Huffman. The seventh grader won the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Class L state cross country meet in DuQuoin on Saturday by 17 seconds over the next runner to lead the WJHS girls team to a first place trophy.
