Local cross country runners advance to state

In high school cross country action on Saturday, three local runners advanced to this weekend’s state meet to take place Saturday at Detweiler Park in Peoria.

Waterloo High School runners Lance Mueller and Cole Rodenberg, both seniors, advanced as individuals, as did Columbia High School junior Kristian Avise-Rouse.

Mueller placed second overall (15:22) and Rodenberg fourth (15:30) at Saturday’s IHSA Class 2A Decatur Sectional.

Avise-Rouse placed sixth overall (17:12) at the Class 1A Metro-East Lutheran Sectional.

Also advancing to state in Class 1A is the Red Bud High School girls cross country team. Members of the team are Keri Burmester, Deanna Deterding, Daniele London, Gloria Neuhaus, Emma Neumeyer, Kendra Reichling, Brooke Supancic and Stephanie Wiechert.
