Linda Kueker | Obituary
Linda Kueker, 96, of Steeleville, died July 27, 2016, at her home in Steeleville.
She was born March 24, 1920, in Campbell Hill, daughter of the late Otto and Sophia (Joost) Wettig.
Linda was confirmed May 25, 1934, in German at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Point. She later became a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville.
She married Ervin Kueker June 15, 1941, in Walsh; he preceded her in death May 29, 1987.
Linda worked at Lowenbaum dress factory in Sparta, where she retired after 23 years. Later in life she helped at the church food pantry and helped with the Wednesday All STARS.
She enjoyed reading the Bible and attending church services. She liked making crafts, quilts, shopping and line dancing with many of her friends. She was a 4-H leader in Sparta for several years as well.
Linda is survived by three daughters, Shirley Elmore (Bob) of Waterloo, Karlyn Eggemeyer (Norlan) of Walsh, and Betty Ballard of Summerfield, Fla.; two sisters, Stella McFadden of Sparta, and Emma Schoenbeck of Red Bud; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elda Linders and Esther Wettig, and brothers Bill Wettig, Henry Wettig and Art Wettig.
Visitation is July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville; and Aug. 1, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville.
Funeral services will be Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the church, Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating.
Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
