Lester A. Hanson

Lester A. Hanson, 78, of Waterloo, died May 15, 2015, at his home, with his loving family at his side.

He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Fergus Falls, Minn., the son of the late Arnold and Evelyn Hanson (nee Anderson).

He was married to Kay Hanson (nee Morford), who survives him. They were married Dec. 28, 1960, in Fergus Falls, Minn.

Lester was retired from Blu Surf Manufacturing in Parma, Mich., where he had worked for 27 years as a mechanical engineer. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the NRA.

Also surviving are his children, Brenda Hanson of Arnold, Mo., Scott (Angie) Hanson of Westfield, Ind., and Linda (Michael) Litteken of Waterloo; grandchildren, Amanda and Victoria Hanson, Christopher Hanson, and McKenna Litteken; sister, Maxine Pederson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Raymond Schumacher of Battle Lake, Minn.; along with other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Hanson, and sisters Darlene Schumacher and Elaine Penney.

Visitation was May 19, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia.

Graveside services and interment were held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis,.
