Lavina M. Steibel | Obituary

Lavina M. Steibel, 86, of Prairie du Rocher, died July 21, 2016, at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud.

She was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Prairie du Rocher, daughter of the late Henry and Rose Melliere (nee Fausz).

She married Raymond Steibel on Aug. 16, 1952, in Prairie du Rocher; he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1986.

Lavina was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Prairie du Rocher, where she was a past president and a Gold Star Mother. She enjoyed watching NASCAR races and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She loved playing cards, bingo and doing word finds.

Survivors include her children Joyce (Gary) Brown of House Springs, Mo., John Steibel (Mary Schrader) of Waterloo; Geralyn Pearce (John Pritchard) of Prairie du Rocher, and Danny (Jeanine) Steibel of Prairie du Rocher; daughter-in-law Mary Steibel (Gerald Whelan) of Prairie du Rocher; sister-in-law Mary Melliere of Prairie du Rocher; 14 grandchildren Rick (Amy) Brown, Jason (Jaimie) Brown, Jeremy (Renee) Steibel, Jolene Steibel, Jana Steibel, Jodie Steibel, J.D. Steibel, Corey (Jennifer) Pearce, Samantha (Aaron) Pearce, Megan Pearce, Morgan Steibel, Sierra Steibel,  Michael Steibel and Kyle Steibel; great-grandchildren Seth, Kiarra, Halie, Breanna, Annabelle and Baby Steibel, who is on the way; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Frank and Joseph Steibel, brother Norman “Boogaloo” Melliere, and sister Leta Rae Adkins.

Visitation was July 24, and July 25, at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 25, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher, Father Stanley Konieczny.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prairie du Rocher.
